A Moscow Mule with a unique twist!
The Moscow Mule is a classic, delicious and refreshing cocktail that is a favorite of ours at Team Cocktail. It's super easy to make, only has a few ingredients and the end result is amazing.
Check out the video below where we teach you how to make the Moscow Mule. We also decided to add what we are calling a Quarantine Booster at the end. We'd like to thank our friends at Bubbly Side of Life for partnering with us on this idea! We think you're gonna love it!
Now that you've watched the video you may have some questions. Here are a few important things to remember when making a Moscow Mule.
COPPER MUG
Why are copper mugs important to a Moscow Mule? Well, first of all they keep the drink nice and cold as they take on the icy temperature of the cocktail. This is important especially if you are sipping a Moscow Mule in the hot sun!
Copper mugs also add to the taste of the drink as well. It's been found that cold copper has a tendency to increase the amount of bubbles in the ginger beer, thus bringing maximum fizziness to the drink.
Finally they add to the experience. There is something iconic, or like I said in the video, more fancy, when you're drinking out of the stylish copper mug! Depending on the bar or restaurant you go to, they may require you to leave an ID for the mug to ensure that they get it back. You know why people take the copper mugs? Because they are awesome, that's why! So hand over that ID and enjoy this tasty cocktail!
VODKA
Vodka is our liquor headliner in this tasty concoction. So pick out your favorite vodka and mix it up! We're fans of Tito's Vodka but really any higher end vodka will do. We suggest staying away from the super cheap vodka as it takes away from the taste of the drink. What vodka do you prefer in your Moscow Mule? Be sure to tell us in the comments below.
GINGER BEER
What ginger beer is best in a Moscow Mule? That is the million dollar question when it comes to making this classic cocktail. What I will tell you is you need to try a few to figure out which you like best. Do you like a really strong ginger taste? Or do you want something a little smoother? A few of our favorites are Fever-Tree and Cock 'n' Bull.
As history would have it, an authentic Moscow Mule is made with Cock'n Bull Ginger Beer, vodka and lime. See, Sophia Berezinski, a woman who immigrated to the US from Russia, had 2,000 solid copper mugs to sell. Long story short, she walked in to the Cock'n Bull pub in 1941 and helped create this classic cocktail! Jack Morgan the owner of the Cock'n Bull had been trying to introduce America to his own brand of ginger beer and another gentleman by the name of John Martin had purchased Smirnoff Vodka distillery. The trio spent hours developing the perfect cocktail that combined all three of their needs. Ginger Beer, Vodka and a Copper Mug!
