Get Tipsy on a Dalgono (Whipped Coffee) White Russian Cocktail!
Spiked whipped coffee is a thing!
It's all over Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and Youtube! All of the influencers and I'm sure your friends have been literally "whipping up" coffee. Being the coffee lover that I am, after seeing all of the posts, I decided to try it for myself. I will tell you this…if you like coffee and you like cocktails…you are gonna want to try this recipe!
You can watch the video below where I make it for you. Or feel free to read the rest of the blog which gives you all of the details!
I hope you enjoy! It is one of my new favorite cocktails and I can't wait to make it for other people soon!
What is Dalgono?
It is a cold, whipped coffee drink made of instant coffee, sugar and hot water that is beaten until creamy and then added over milk! It derived it's name from dalgona, a Korean Honeycomb toffee, due to the resemblance in taste and appearance. However, most dalgona coffee doesn't actually contain dalgona.
The tasty coffee drink grew in popularity throughout South Korea during the COVID-19 social distancing orders. Under the hashtag #dalgonacoffeechallenge, homemade versions of dalgona coffee began spreading on South Korean YouTube channels before going viral on TikTok!
It has since taken US social media by storm and can now be found in households across the country!
Now let's make it and spice it up a bit with some booze…I mean we are Team Cocktail after all!
How to make Dalgono?
It's super easy and takes just about 5 minutes. Here is what you need:
Ingredients:
- 2 TBS Instant Coffee
- 2 TBS Sugar
- 2 TBS Hot Water
You put all three ingredients in a bowl, grab a hand mixer and beat until you get a creamy whipped topping. It takes about 3-5 minutes. You can whip it by hand but…that's a lot of work if you ask me!
To finish off the non-alcoholic version you would just top it over milk and ice. Once you take the Instagram worthy photo you mix the whipped topping in to your drink and you're finished. But of course….we're not going to stop there. It's time to add the booze!
Let's Booze it up!
You can now set aside the whipped topping for a minute and we're gonna focus on making a delicious cocktail called the White Russian. You can have them anytime of the day of course, but we prefer them as an after dinner drink. Which is why a White Russian pairs perfectly with the Dalgono.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 1/2 oz Kahlua
- 2-3 oz Cream
- Ice
- Optional: 1/2 - 1 oz Godiva Chocolate Liqueur.
Pour the vodka and Kahlua in to the glass, then add your ice. Top with 2-3 ounces of cream, half & half or milk. Be sure to leave a little room on top to add the Dalgono. Once you have all the ingredients in the glass top with your whipped coffee!
With the Dalgono recipe above you would have enough topping for 2 cocktails!
Also, if you want it to have a more chocolate flavor add a 1/2 to 1 ounces of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur. I mean who doesn't want a little more chocolate and liquor?!
Cheers! I hope you enjoy!
